Drug dealing student arrested at Bendigo school

14 September 2016 –

meth_use_in_schoolsA 16-year old student has been arrested at a Bendigo High school, last week, over allegations of his part in a “sophisticated drug dealing syndicate” that concerned parents believe had been operating for a considerable length of time.

In addition, other pupils are being questioned over their part in the selling and use of illegal drugs at events and parties in the Bendigo area and more arrests are expected.

“Parent groups are expressing concern at the shocking knowledge that drugs have been easily obtainable on school grounds and at school events and are tremendously concerned that the use of illegal substances puts the safety and well-being of all students, and staff, at risk,” wrote parents in a letter to the Herald Sun.

“Parents invest a lot to buy their children a good education and to be educated in a school with a strong culture. However paying high fees does not necessarily prevent students from illegal behaviour that is detrimental to themselves and others.”

This example from Bendigo is by no means isolated or unique. Drug use amongst high school students is increasing and often the dealers are students themselves either wanting to make a bit of money, or to fund their own drug habit, or usually both. This early experimenting with drugs can be the start of serious addiction if there is not timely intervention to stop it before it becomes a serious issue, an issue that will have life-changing affects.

If parents are concerned that their children are involved with drugs, either using or dealing, having some form of proof would at least allow a level of certainty before confronting them on this sensitive issue.

An initial surface drug test allows you to test the possessions or surfaces that the person has come in contact with. This can be done discreetly and a result is available in seconds.

The Narcotect D4D PenTest surface drug test kit also enables you to test for a number of illegal drugs, including ice, cannabis, ecstasy, amphetamines, cocaine and opiates, in a single test.

If a surface drug test indicates a positive indication for drug residue, further confirmation can be made by conducting a personal saliva or urine drug test.

Since this is a particularly sensitive issue, we do suggest that you seek further professional help. For further information, these websites are a good starting point.
